I’m going to be mailing a few colleagues cigars soon to thank them for sending business my way (and grease the chute for more business, ha).
The cigar.com company sent a catalogue to me recently, so I’ve been paging it through it trying to figure out what to send.
My cigar knowledge is very shallow — I know just enough to be able to select a decent cigar at most tobacco shops. Not an expert at all.
So reading through the catalog is overwhelming, because they sell so many varieties.
There was a study recently that showed the amount of choices that we are given these days is actually detrimental to our mental well being (stresses us out, in other words), and in some cases it means that instead of choosing one out of so many, we won’t even buy!
So I’m fighting through that problem right now with cigars! Luckily the catalog has some “sets” they put together with 5-10 different cigars. A variety pack, if you will.
They do the choosing for you, which is nice.
The way I see it, the cigar brokers are the experts, so if they put together a nice package of well known cigar names, I might as well go with one of their recommendations.
In the testing biz, I’ve tried to cut down on the dizzying array of choices my clients have to choose from.
Just starting out exploring for frac sand? Let’s go with “go / no-go” testing which includes sieve analysis, sphericity and roundness, and acid solubility. All for a nice package deal of $950 (cigar not included ha).
Testing some Mexican barite before you buy a load? First, let’s check out the density, to make sure it’s as heavy as advertised.
Need something like garnets tested? Try a turbidity test.
