I recently read the Hunger Games book (yes, I know a bit behind the crowd).
Still haven’t watched the movie (again, behind the crowd by a sequel).
Any-hoo…
It was a good book — not sure that it was quite moving enough for me to make my “best of” charts, but it was a decent quick read. The author left cliffhangers on each chapter end, so you had no choice but to keep reading!
Another survivalist movie — similar in its “man hunting man” theme — was The Running Man, starring “Ahnuld” Schwarzenegger.
Growing up, that movie held a special place in my heart, because it was one of the first rated R movies that I saw behind my parent’s back. And I wasn’t 17. I’m a rebel.
Like it or not, this minerals and metals exploration business that you might be in is like those survival movies.
You gots to have some of these skills to survive:
– Strength and perseverance: don’t let some difficulties or business “injuries” stop you, keep on it.
– Creativity: make magic out of the business tools that are available to you right now.
– Independence: you’ll never stand out by following the herd; find something that sets you apart and dig in.
– Weapons: In Hunger Games, the main character is an expert in archery, honed by years of hunting for her family. You must choose your business weapons, learn them, and use them better than the competition.
