This morning as I came into work, there was a large semi-truck parked just inside the outer fence to the campus.
I work at an industrial complex that used to do work for the government, so they have a nice sturdy security fence around the entire property.
So, this truck driver had a piece of paper and looked like he was really hoping that I would stop and help him out.
So, being the gentleman and patriot that I am, I did just that.
Turns out the guy was out of Wisconsin, but he also had an Eastern European accent, so I doubt he was born a cheese head.
He shows me his delivery sheet, and it was for a delivery to some company with Timber in the business name.
There were multiple businesses that rented space out at Technology Way, but none of the businesses were a timber company.
Now, the delivery sheet had two street addresses on it, and one was Technology Way, so he was in the right spot according to that street name.
However, the other street address was Parkmont, and that road was just one big block to the south.
And then I pointed in the direction of Parkmont. From our vantage point, you could see a large building and yard with lots of building supplies in it, right on Parkmont.
So, in his cool accent, he said “I bet it’s the place with all the lumber!”
I showed him how he could turn around without having to do any backing, and he was on his way.
Most likely, he would be unloaded in a couple hours and headed to the next job.
Just another happy customer!
The truck driver was very close to reaching his goal, but he needed that bit of “expert help” to get him the rest of the way.
Kinda reminds me of some of the nice folks that call to talk about their sand, and whether or not they should do frac sand testing.
They know where they want to sample, but need just some additional guidance on how to collect the sample, how much to sample, and how to package it.
Like I said above – I’m a gentleman – and I’m more than happy to chat and help.
I like to get folks on their way.
