The wind can do some mighty interesting things.
There are stories about a strong wind driving a piece of straw (straw from hay) into a power pole. Or a tornado destroying the churches in a town, but leaving the taverns!
I read somewhere that strange coincidence could be explained, because churches were normally closed up during the day or evening, and bars were opened up for business for many hours each day. Which means the pressure difference between the interior of the church and the changing pressure outside from the twister causes the church to be blown apart much easier than the bar, with its doors open.
My hometown of Plentywood, Montana was hit with a nasty series of storms last night that tore up the small town.
Towers torn down, power poles pulverized…
…trees uprooted, and branches blown all over…
… little planes at the little airport flipped upside down and pushed around!
My childhood home had some damage in the yard. Luckily the uprooted pine tree in my yard just missed the garage when it came down.
Luckily, it doesn’t appear that anyone was injured during the storm.
And, it seems like the only commercial building that really sustained damage and might cause it to be torn down, was a bar and restaurant!? Apparently no churches seriously damaged in these storms!
Wind can do some mighty weird things.
On a positive note, the “wind” can also blow in some sales.
