How to “cheat” when building frac sand blend

Did you ever watch the movie Rain Man?

Dustin Hoffman plays an idiot savant, a genius with no social skills that has a genius ability to count and remember things.

His brother, played by Tom Cruise, takes him to Vegas, teaches him how to count cards, and they clean house.

It’s not really “cheating,” but it’s using the rules of the game to your advantage in a unique way.

The house has the right to refuse service to anyone, however, so they can kick you out for counting cards, even though it’s not really illegal.

Just takes smarts.

In the frac sand game, you can also use the rules to your advantage.

When building your blend of sized frac sand, say 20/40, 30/50, or 40/70, you are technically allowed 10% leeway on a sieve of your sand.

For instance, let’s say that you sell someone 30/50 sized sand and put the money in your pocket.

In order to meet API specs, 90% of your sand, by weight, needs to fall out in that 30/50 size. The rest of it? Well, it can be outside that 30/50 sieve size range.

To maximize profits, you can blend some sand from outside your range, adding it to your final mix to get the maximum weight (and dollars) for your frac sand, while still staying within that 90% in size range.

Where you steal the sand from depends on a composite sieve of your sand.

Kind of like how those drug dealers used to “cut” their coke with baking soda, or whatever to give them better profits (movie knowledge only, okay!).

Except doing it with frac sand isn’t illegal, and won’t get you shot in the face.

Ok, you can tell I have been holed up watching a lot of movies and tv series lately in this cold.

Anyway, to partner with a team that can not only test your sand, but help you get the top dollar for it by using “secretive” tactics, give me a call,
