My wife recently bought an Instant Pot.
And I was immediately skeptical.
For those of you who aren’t “hip” to new cooking fads (I am not), the Instant Pot is basically a programmable pressure cooker.
And of course I remember my mom making pressure cooked vegetables, and, honestly they weren’t great (sorry mom!). So, from my experience, the pressure cooking method is not something I have much positive memories of.
So, that’s why I was skeptical with the Instant Pot.
But the Instant Pot has humbled me and proved me wrong!
Since I eat a lot of rice now, I found that the Instant Pot is great at making awesome Jasmine rice in about 15 minutes (and a lot of it, if you want).
A home cook can throw in a roast or medium size piece of meat, along with veggies, etc. and you can have a pull-apart-tender dinner from one pot in about an hour. Remember the Ron Popeil guy, from the infomercials? He always said, “set it, and forget it!” and with the Instant Pot, you can truly do that!
And, you can make such a variety of things with it: soups, porridges, chili, etc etc the list goes on an on. Just push the button!
So, I know this sounds like an ad for an Instant Pot (I should be sending you all to Amazon to buy one, so I get a commission!), but I gotta admit, I really had a change of heart about the Instant Pot.
I just got off the phone with my wife, actually, and asked her to make some rice for dinner tonight, using *of course* the Instant Pot!
